WHAT’S YOUR GUIDING QUESTION?
I’m a big believer in the fact that brand clarity brings success. It doesn’t matter whether you’re curating the perfect Instagram feed, creating irresistible offers, or building a website designed to attract the people you want to serve, understanding your brand foundations is the first step to getting the outcome you want. This is the reason I will always start by asking the big questions when designing a site for a client.
What big questions am I talking about? I’m talking about the foundations of who you are as a business owner, what you hope to accomplish, and who you hope to help. I’m talking about the passion that drives you through the hardest parts of your business, the sleepless nights, and the countless difficult decisions you have to make. By asking yourself these questions, you gain the clarity that is necessary to having a website that achieves what you want it to achieve.
1. What is your guiding question?
What’s your guiding question? What is the question that motivates you towards making a change in the world? What brings up strong emotions for you? Joy, anger, fulfillment? In short, what passion guides everything that you do? The answer to this question will bring you closer to your purpose.
2. WHY ARE YOU DOING WHAT YOU DO?
Why are you doing what you do? Your why is everything. I encourage you to take the time to ponder on your true reason for what you do, and to write about it. Putting things down into words, specifically your why, can bring a critical clarity to your business.
3. What types of values keep showing up?
When thinking about your business, what thoughts keep reappearing? What values continually come to your mind? Your first thoughts and instincts are important to pay attention to because they show you what you value the most.
4. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE KNOWN FOR?
What do you want to be known for? Thinking about what you want your legacy to be can really get to the heart of what you hope to accomplish with your brand. What do you want other people to think of when they hear your name? What ideas and qualities do you want to be associated with?
5. WHAT ARE YOUR CORE VALUES?
What are your core values? Your core values are what will shine out through your website, your brand, and your offers to get to the heart of the people you are selling to. They will inform your every decision as a business owner, including how to design your website.
You might be thinking, these seem like really deep questions to be asking about a website. But actually, it’s so much more than just a website. It’s the face of your brand, and it’s what you use to communicate your why and your message to the world. It’s your foundation, and if you haven’t built a strong foundation, the rest of what you’re building probably won’t last.
I design websites with the purpose in mind of getting you ideal clients. When your brand foundations are crystal clear and your site CTA’s are easy to follow, your website does the hard work of bringing those clients to you. When you’re clear on who you are, what you do, and why you do it, the people who need what you have to offer will find you! Are you looking for help finding clarity on the foundations of your brand?
